On May 21, 2014, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel gathered near the site of the new XS Tennis Village to announce the City of Chicago’s support for the new facility and XSTEF’s efforts in the community. Local school children, the media, and XS players gathered to hear Mayor Emanuel speak and show their support for the project. In support of Tennis XSpress, an XSTEF program that provides free in-school tennis instruction to Chicago youth, Mayor Emanuel joined in a lesson with dozens of elementary school children at the Beethoven School.
